Our Apples

Missouri apples typically ripen from late July clear through November, and they range from sweet and juicy to tart and crunchy. Our season begins late in August with our Zestar apples and ends in early November with our Fuji apples. Review all of our varieties below.

Zestar Apples

Zestar Apples ripen in mid August. They are red with a yellow blush and offer a crunchy, sweet, tart sensation with a hint of brown sugar or cinnamon flavor. They will keep for about two weeks fresh picked and are best for eating but can be used for baking.

Jonathan Apples

Jonathan apples are a staple for the Missouri apple pie baker. They are a deep red, firm apple that keeps well. They ripen in September. Their unique, deep, bold flavor adds tartness to any apple pie, but a Jonathan apple isn’t so tart that most people won’t hesitate to eat one right off the tree.

Gala Apples

Gala apples ripen the last week of August. They are also red with a yellow blush. With a high sugar content, they are not well suited for baking but are a great sweet and juicy snack that, when picked fresh from the tree, will last two or three weeks refrigerated.

UltraGold apples grown on Missouri farm

UltraGold Apples

UltraGold Apples are a sweet and very juicy yellow apple with a slight orange blush. Their sugar content makes them unsuited for pie, but add a few to your applesauce and apple butter recipe and you can reduce the amount of added sugar. They also make a great snack apple but must be refrigerated to keep. They ripen the first weeks of October.

Fuji Apples

Our late-season apple, the Fuji, is a reddish pink apple with a sweet flavor that is bolder than an Ultragold or Gala, making it a favorite of customers. It has become our go-to apple for pies. Fuji Apples ripen at the end of October.

Suncrisp Apples

Suncrisp apples are our best seller. They are a firm yellow apple with an orange blush. A cross between Cox’s-Orange Pippin and Golden Delicious gives this apple a superior crunch and sweet-tart flavor that mellows in your mouth like a nice wine. Their firmness makes them a great keeper lasting for two to three months refrigerated. They ripen in late October.
